Lucania, Thurium. Triobolus ND (350–300 BC), Thurium (Thourioi).
Obverse: Head of Athena facing right, wearing a helmet with a crest adorned with a laurel wreath.
Reverse: ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ. Charging bull facing right, head lowered; below, the inscription [HPA].
HGC 1, 1267 – SNG Lloyd 500; Silver – 0.98 g – 11.5 mm – 6 h
On a fairly wide but light-weight blank (for a triobol). Beautifully struck, the blank slightly concave. Attractive grey patina. Superb in proof condition.
