Bruttium, Carthaginian occupation. Quarter shekel, 1st type, alliance with the Bruttians, Second Punic War, undated (215–205 BC), mint unknown.
Obverse: Laurel-crowned head of Tanit-Demeter on the left, set against a grènetis.
Reverse: Horse on the right.

Acquired from Bourgey in 1989.
A rare variety featuring the wheat field on the obverse and a smooth circle on the reverse. Beautifully styled. Lightly cleaned beneath a developing patina. Superb.
