Sicily, Syracuse, Second Democracy (466–405 BC). Litra ND (466–460 BC), Syracuse.
Obverse: ΣV[R]A. Head of Arethusa facing right, with a pearl necklace in her hair.
Reverse: Octopus.

Acquired from CGB in 2017 (bgr_424071) and previously from the collection of Dr B. Odaert.
Featuring ‘SYRA’ on the obverse, with the letter ‘R’ in mirror image. The relief and fields are barely worn, with an anthracite patina. Very good condition.
