Lucania, Thurium. Distater ND (400–350 BC), Thurium (Thourioi).
Obverse. Head of Athena facing right, wearing a helmet with a crest adorned with Scylla holding a trident, and a griffin on the nape of the neck; letters IΔ behind the nape.
Rev. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ. Charging bull facing right, head lowered; below, a thon to the right.
HGC 1, 1255 – Noe F30; Silver – 15.27 g – 25 mm – 10 h
NGC Ch VF 4/5 3/5 Fine Style brushed (8769658-012).
A small metal defect on the reverse beneath the bull. The fields have been barely scratched. Even wear on the high reliefs with a pleasant patina. Well centred with the crest on the obverse clearly visible. Almost Superb.
