Macedonia (Kingdom of), Philip III (323–317 BC). Tetradrachm in the name of Alexander III ND (c. 325–c. 315 BC), Pella.
Obverse: Head of Heracles facing right, holding the lion’s pelt.
Rev. AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ. Zeus, holding a lion’s skin, seated on the left on a throne, holding a sceptre in his left hand and an eagle in his right; to the left (variant).
HGC 3.1, 973a – Price 206; Silver – 17.23 g – 27.5 mm – 8 h
NGC Ch AU 5/5 3/5 brushed (6639715-011).
Slightly scuffed on the reverse. Vigorous strike, high relief, and well centred. Superb in Proof condition.
