Obverse: TO BONAPARTE, REBUILDER OF LYON. Bareheaded head of the First Consul facing left; signature MERCIE. F. LUG.; below, in three lines: R. VERNINAC, PREFECT/ ON BEHALF OF THE GRATEFUL PEOPLE OF LYON.
Reverse: An endless oak wreath; in the centre: VICTOR/ TO MARINGO/ TWICE CONQUEROR/ OF ITALY/ HE RESTORED THE PLACE/ BELLE-COUR/ HEREBY NAMED BONAPARTE/ AND LAID THE FIRST STONE/ ON THE 10TH OF MESS. YEAR 8 OF THE/ REPUBLIC/ THE FIRST YEAR OF HIS/ CONSULATE./ 1800 V.S.
