Round tortoiseshell box with gold mount, France, late 18th century; the lid features, centred, a miniature portrait, probably of Catherine II of Russia in court dress, after Johann Baptist von Lampi, the lid and band feature a radiating decoration of fine rose gold lamellae set into a brown tortoiseshell ground, framed by finely chiselled gold borders with foliage friezes; interior in brown tortoiseshell; diameter 7.5 cm Some missing sections and lifting of the rose gold bands Several nails are missing from the setting CITES – September 2026 + Export or dispatch restrictions may apply to this lot.
