Description
Jean-Élisée PUIFORCAT (1897–1945) A silver lidded pot with a conical body resting on a circular, slightly stepped base that flares outwards, and a domed silver lid featuring radiating grooves around a circular, hollowed-out jade handle. A havana-coloured pouch bearing the maker’s mark. Signed in full on the base; silversmith’s maker’s mark and hallmark on each piece. Height: 24 cm – diameter: 20.5 cm Exhibition: a vegetable dish of the same design was exhibited at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925. History: the vegetable bowl from the 1925 exhibition was donated by Jean-Elisée Puiforcat to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (inv. 25450.A) Provenance: Collection of Mr and Mrs Georges Masson; auction by Maître Picard, Paris, 26 January 1994, lot 125.
