Jean-Élisée PUIFORCAT (1897–1945) Silver serving platter from the ‘Bayonne’ collection, with a square body and an ornate border on two sides of a wide, rectangular section featuring three grooved sections. Signed in full on the reverse, with silversmith’s maker’s mark and hallmark. Height: 2 cm – length: 33.5 cm – depth: 33 cm / weight: 1,430 g Exhibition: a similar model was exhibited at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925. History: a similar model is held in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (inv. 25450.B).
