The 1958 ‘Ginette’ model, in welded iron or bronze, is significant in César’s oeuvre as it originally belonged to the ‘welded iron’ cycle, just prior to his ‘Compressions’ period. Using arc welding, César fashioned a highly organic female form with accentuated volumes from scrap metal.
