A carved ebony pill box with a circular body and a twisted lid inlaid with strips of mother-of-pearl around the rim.

History: from the collection of the descendants of François Carnot. François Carnot and Gaston Le Bourgeois founded the ‘Atelier des Mutilés de France’ on the Île de Puteaux after the artist was discharged from military service during the First World War following the loss of an eye.
