Description
HeRyun Kim (born 1964) Shoes on the Water, 2005 Oil on canvas three panels 183 x 228 cm (each panel) Total: 227 x 545 cm Provenance: Yves Carcelle Collection, France. Yves Carcelle was a true symbol of French elegance. During his tenure as chairman of Louis Vuitton, he transformed this century-old leather goods house into a major player in the luxury industry thanks to his marketing genius and charisma. A passionate art historian, he sadly passed away a few weeks before the opening of the building designed by Frank Gehry for the Foundation, of which he was also chairman. Yves Carcelle maintained close ties with artists and had a personal appreciation for the contemporary art collection. He had developed a particular passion for contemporary Asian art, which he had discovered at a very early stage during his travels to China in the 1980s. Aponem is honoured to present a selection of works from his private collection at its auction on 26 October, held in conjunction with Art Basel, and to pay tribute to this ‘pioneer and tireless traveller’, in the words of Bernard Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the LVMH Group. Please contact the auction house for condition reports.
