Description
[ARTIFICIALIA] Large pair of CLOSSE (Nany) brand carriage or coach lanterns, circa 1900–1910, comprising a candle holder, a silver-coloured reflector and side glass Distinctive feature: the bevelled horseshoe-shaped glass panes H.: 47 cm Also included is a wooden box and an acetylene lantern or headlamp by G. Ducellier H.: 26 cm excluding the handle This lamp consists of two metal reservoirs: a water reservoir placed on top of a calcium carbide reservoir (carburettor). The brightness of the lamp’s flame depended in particular on the quality and flow rate of the burners, which in this case are Bray combined burners (the advantage of which is that they project two streams of gas against each other, thereby considerably increasing the size of the flame) It should be noted that the projection glass is green with a white hatched centre and that the lantern has a red reflector
