COMPOSITION OF STUFFED BIRDS UNDER A GLASS DOME Napoleon III period, late 19th century. A display under a glass dome featuring seven taxidermied birds, arranged within a naturalistic setting comprising dried plants, painted lichen replicas and artificial fabric flowers. It includes the following species: Icterus icterus — Troupial oriole; Alcedo atthis -- European kingfisher; Tangara mexicana -- Red-breasted tanager; Piranga olivacea -- Scarlet tanager; Chiroxiphia pareola -- Tijé manakin; Sicalis flaveola -- Buttercup sicalis; Tangara gyrola -- Rouverdin’s tanager. Height of the globe: 53 cm. All these species predate the regulations governing their protection and trade. (None of these species is listed in the CITES appendices; whilst they are indeed pre-Convention species, they have no connection with the Convention itself). A certificate of expertise will be issued to the purchaser.
