Description
A rare evening bag from The Camel’s Bell gift shop, Beijing, China, circa 1920–1930, featuring polychrome silk embroidery in the ‘au passé’ and ‘Beijing’ styles, and gold thread embroidery depicting elegant ladies in a garden. Openwork clasp with a sliding gilded strap and fringed tassels, 24 x 12 cm. Also included: a red felt headband embroidered with polychrome silk and gold thread in couching stitch, decorated with a phoenix, butterflies and fire pearls (a few small, faint stains), 28 x 170 cm.
