Long cashmere shawl, India, c. 1860–1870, a black star-patterned border extending down the slopes in floral scrolls forming a lyre against a mille-fleurs background; the centre features a flowering cypress framed by elongated, curved palm fronds. Espoliné cashmere weave in predominantly raspberry, orange and black, with harlequin-patterned embroidered selvedges (small holes), 300 x 150 cm.
