Description
The Silence of the Lambs. 1991. Original poster, offset print, unmounted. 144x119cm per sheet. Condition A – minor tears at the edges. In two unmounted sheets.
Probably one of the most famous film posters of all time, reflecting the immense success of this thriller directed by Jonathan Demme. The cast includes Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter and Jodie Foster. Whilst the butterfly on this poster – a ‘skull-headed’ sphinx – became famous thanks to this poster, it actually exists in reality. However, the skull that it naturally has at the back of its head has here been replaced by the skull visible in the famous photograph by Dalí and Halsman, ‘In Vuluptate mors’.
