Description

Tourism – Pierre Fix Masseau (1905–1994). Accuracy. Reissued in 1982. Printed by Bedos, Paris. 99 × 62 cm / 38.9 × 24.4 in. Original poster. Lithograph. Grade A. This poster, originally created in 1932 by Fix Masseau for the SNCF, was reissued by the artist himself in 1982. It is therefore not a copy, but a ‘rebirth’ and an original poster. It depicts a monumental locomotive at a platform in a station, in a composition reminiscent of certain works by the master of Art Deco poster art, Cassandre. The poster was originally commissioned for the State Railways, which a few years later became the SNCF.
