NOTE : The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov A set of sixteen photographs taken in Moscow in 2008 by Jean-Daniel Lorieux on the initiative of Yevgeny Yakovlev, a Russian businessman and cultural figure whose dream was to bring to life the most mysterious novel in Russian literature, Mikhail Bulgakov's masterpiece The Master and Margarita. For this extravaganza, to match the immensity of the novel, he hired Isabelle Adjani in the role of the beautiful lover, and the no less famous fashion photographer Jean-Daniel Lorieux. It was a mammoth shoot through the streets, parks and hotels of 1930s Moscow, involving more than a hundred actors, extras, technicians, dressers, etc., and a budget of three million euros. In the end, the result was an incredible baroque creation, a series of tableaux vivants embodied in the voluptuous and tragic photographs on sale.
