Voluntary lot
Description
A rare Sustrac miniature doll with a biscuit-coloured head and body, a blonde with fixed blue enamel eyes, a tiny chip or tear under the right eye, closed mouth, articulated arms with ball joints at the elbows, tulle lingerie, a stylish dress and matching low-waisted linen hat edged with lace braid, 13 cm
The clothing is very tight-fitting; the condition of the body cannot be seen. (See the book ‘Mademoiselle MIGNONNETTE: Pocket Doll’ by François Theimer: ‘Fernand SUSTRAC’s articulated pocket dolls with ball joints were only produced for around four years... They are very rare and valuable. … Fernand SUSTRAC presented his dolls at his stand at the 1878 World’s Fair, where they were admired by the public and industry professionals alike.”
