Large round porcelain dish bearing a coat of arms.
China, East India Company, 18th century, circa 1720.
Decorated in the centre with a large escutcheon bearing the coat of arms of Peter GOGFREY, surmounted by the motto ‘Corde Fixam’
The rim is decorated with branches of peony blossoms. The foot is decorated with flowering branches within medallions against a latticework background.
Diameter: 44.8 cm
In very fine condition.

The assistant ship’s agent, an additional person on board the ship representing the shipowner’s interests, was responsible for overseeing the management of the cargo.
