Description
CHRISTOFLE, late 19th–early 20th century. A pair of silver-plated bronze candelabra with finely chiselled decoration and six arms. The fluted and godron-decorated shaft is adorned with garlands of laurel and foliage, and is topped by a stem featuring a knob decorated with berries. The circular, openwork base and the plinth are adorned with a laurel-wreathed torus. The six light arms are modelled on leafy branches, a motif repeated on the candle holders, the upper part of which is godron-decorated, whilst the candle sockets are encircled by a beaded frieze. Slight wear. Goldsmith’s hallmarks 1844–1935. Two serial numbers: 18R598 and 18R599. Height: 60 cm. Width: 35 cm (approximately). Base diameter: 14 cm.
