ITALY, Venice – early 18th century. Large ceremonial mirror with a moulded wooden frame, finely carved and gilded, featuring rich openwork decoration on the pediment and in the upper spandrels, comprising stylised acanthus leaves, volutes, floral garlands and shells. The scalloped pediment is centred on a medallion bearing the initials ‘A.M.’ beneath a marquis’s crown. Height: 174 cm Length: 116.5 cm Normal signs of restoration, wear and tear, minor losses and mercury stains.
