Roger VANDERCRUSE, known as Lacroix (1728–1799), admitted as a Master in 1749
Small mahogany writing desk, with mahogany and satinwood veneer. It opens at the waist with a sliding top forming a black leather-covered flap, two side drawers and a small drawer at the back. Rests on a faceted tripod base.
Stamped R.V.L.C. and JME.
Last third of the 18th century.

R.V.L.C. is the maker’s mark of Roger VANDERCRUSE, known as Lacroix (1728–1799), who was admitted as a Master in 1749. Highly regarded for his refined designs, R.V.L.C. supplied numerous pieces of furniture to the Crown via the Royal Furniture Depot between 1769 and 1774, and then directly in 1787 and 1788.
