Description
A set of twelve damask napkins from a ‘hunting at the château’ service, second half of the 19th century. In linen damask, framed by a forest landscape and stags being hunted by a pack of hounds, with a resting roe deer on the sides and horsemen in the spandrels, a turreted castle flanked by a willow and an oak tree, and a pack of hounds chasing a stag whilst barking. The initials ‘DP’ are embroidered in white with a slight raised effect in the centre. Dimensions: 96 x 76 cm (in fine condition)
