A superb damask banquet tablecloth featuring morning glories and knotted ribbons, late 19th to early 20th century. A large banquet tablecloth in sumptuous linen damask of exquisite fineness, featuring magnificent swathes of supple stems of blooming roses and their foliage, dishevelled tulips, wild roses, periwinkles, grasses, daisies and poppies held in place by an elegant knotted ribbon; the border is framed by bamboo stalks with the same knotted ribbon and morning glories winding gracefully on either side. The monogram ‘AJP’ is very finely embroidered in plumetis and point de sable. Tablecloth dimensions: 7.50 m x 2.30 m (in good condition, with a few signs of storage)
