A set of eighteen damask napkins featuring clematis and knotted ribbons, early 20th century. Made from beautifully fine linen damask, featuring supple clusters of blooming roses and their foliage, dishevelled tulips, wild roses, periwinkles, grasses, daisies and poppies held in place by a beautiful knotted ribbon; the border is framed by bamboo stalks with the same knotted ribbon and clematis winding gracefully on either side. An elegant AJP monogram and a ‘Rochefort’ border, very finely embroidered in plumetis and point de sable. Dimensions: 89 x 76 cm (good condition, a few stains)
