Description
Two porcelain plates with heraldic decoration for the English market (Frederick), China. Yongzheng period (1723–1735), circa 1724. The plates are decorated in ‘Famille Rose’ enamels, with gilded friezes, Buddhist motifs and cascading flowers; in the centre are the arms of Frederick, Baronets of Westminster: Or, a chevron azure accompanied by three doves in natural colours; the crest features a dove holding a laurel branch in its beak. Dimensions: 22 cm A chip on the rim of one and small chips on the reverse of the other. The gilding has been retouched on one of them.
