Description
A large pair of ovoid Chinese porcelain vases with ruby-coloured bases, decorated with a painted design in ‘Famille Rose’ enamels featuring scattered chrysanthemums and reserved areas adorned with cocks, birds and foliage on a chiselled and gilded bronze mount in the Louis XVI style, with a button-shaped handle and a base featuring a frieze of acanthus leaves. The set is edged at the foot and shoulder with bands featuring green trellis motifs punctuated by floral cartouches. The vases are probably from the Yongzheng period (1723–1735); the lids were replaced in the 19th century and the mount is 19th-century. H. 66 cm – D. 35 cm (restorations, signs of wear)
