Description
An eight-panel screen in mahogany with simple mouldings, the base featuring solid panels, and gilded bronze hinges. One side is adorned with painted Chinese silk panels featuring a design of peony scrolls, late 18th century; the other side is clad with six panels of Louis XV-style lampas, a polychrome silk fabric in the style of JB Pillement, depicting a Chinese couple seated beside a vase of flowers amidst scrolls of flowers, butterflies and an exotic bird perched on a branch. The outer leaves are fitted with glass panels and attached handles. Marked by Jean-François Leleu, who was admitted as a master in 1764. Louis XVI period. A few minor imperfections. Dimensions: 155 x 55 cm for the trimmings.
