Description
A circular pedestal table in thuja burl veneer with chiselled and gilded bronze. The circular glass-topped tabletop features, at its centre, a round porcelain medallion repeating the design of Madame Du Barry’s small ‘Amours’ service, set within a frame of twelve neoclassical medallions in Wedgwood porcelain. It rests on a tripod base with double uprights in the form of small columns imitating bamboo, rising above a triangular crossbar with concave sides, topped by a round shelf with an openwork gallery and a baluster base. The piece stands on arched feet decorated with scrapers. Louis XVI style, based on a commission probably placed by the haberdasher Dominique Daguerre with Adam Weisweiler (1744–1820). H. 76 cm – W. 42 cm (minor signs of wear)
