Description
Attributed to Jean-Melchior WYRSCH (Buochs, 1732 – Buochs, 1798) Portrait of Alexandre Barbier, Count of Kerno and Count of Lyon. Oil on canvas. Height: 80 cm. Width: 65 cm. Inscribed at the top and dated 1771. 18th-century English frame Alexandre Marie Joseph Barbier de Kerno, canon-count in 1770, a former naval officer and Knight of Saint Louis, from a family in Brittany. In 1779, worn out by the rigours of his duties, he tendered his resignation, whilst nevertheless requesting to remain, for as long as he could, a member of the illustrious chapter. He was appointed Honorary Canon-Count. We would like to thank the CPDHS for its assistance in describing our portrait.
