Originally from Fougères, André Mériel-Bussy trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes from 1919, then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1924, where he attended Lucien Simon’s studio. He was awarded the gold medal by the Société des Artistes Français at the 1939 Salon.
