‘Morning in Audierne’.
Oil on canvas, signed, with a label on the reverse reading ‘Salon de l’école française Admissible’, titled with a pencil inscription on the stretcher bar reading ‘Admis, salon 1924’ (slight loss).
Height: 33 cm – Width: 55 cm
A member of the Concarneau group, Emmanuel Marcel-Laurent travelled throughout Finistère, painting its ports, towns such as Audierne, and everyday life, including markets and religious festivals. Appointed Official Painter to the Navy in 1942, his works are on display at the National Maritime Museum in Paris and in Brest.
