Light cavalry sabre, Model 1822. Leather-covered hilt with watermark. Stamped brass mountings, three-pronged crossguard. Curved blade with ‘Châtellerault’ marked on the back and dated May 1879, with hollow edges. Sheath made of sheet iron with two bands, stamped and numbered (oxidation to be cleaned off). Leather sword strap. Length: 106 cm. A.B.E.
