1845 model infantry officer’s sabre.
Horn hilt (watermark and holes missing). Gilded, chiselled brass mountings; single-bar guard, openwork, decorated with foliage, hallmarked ‘JM’ and ‘CC2’. Curved blade with a fuller and hollow edges, the back engraved “Manufre Rle de Châtellerault January 1847”. Leather scabbard with three gilt brass fittings and two rings. Iron ball pommel. Pommel stamped “J.MANCEAUX PARIS”.
