1845 model infantry officer’s sabre. Horn hilt (watermark and holes missing). Gilded, chiselled brass mountings; single-bar guard, openwork, decorated with foliage, hallmarked ‘JM’ and ‘CC2’. Curved blade with a fuller and hollow edges, the back engraved “Manufre Rle de Châtellerault January 1847”. Leather scabbard with three gilt brass fittings and two rings. Iron ball pommel. Pommel stamped “J.MANCEAUX PARIS”. Length: 94 cm. A.B.E. (Wear to the gilding). Date: July Monarchy period.
