Description
Spy-type "Photo-Cravate" camera invented by Edmond Bloch and manufactured by Charles Dessoudeix, with a single 16/25 mm, 25 x 25 mm lens, shutter release, tie, circa 1890. As is. N.B. Jean-Marie PRADES: The Photo-Cravate is another example of the overflowing imagination of the Bloch brothers. Disguised behind a tie, the camera measures 8 x 18 cm and is about 6 mm thick. The 25 mm focal length lens is hidden behind a fake horseshoe-shaped jewel intended to simulate a tie pin. This lens is at the top of a cone containing a shutter that is triggered by means of a bulb hidden in the jacket. The plates are changed using a button under the lens, which drives a chain on which the plate holders are fixed. Six 25 mm square plates can be made. The camera comes with three ties of different designs (...). Visuals and texts " Autour d'une collection 2 " Collection JMP Club Niépce Lumière, p. 149. Expert Isabelle Cazeils. Provenance: Jean-Marie PRADES Collection. Spy camera.
