Description
BRIGADIER-GENERAL’S KEPI, 1919 model. Made of madder-red cloth with gold braid and trim, a black cloth headband entirely embroidered with a pattern of oak leaves and edged at the top with a cord of gold thread and a strip of gold sequins and cannetilles; at the bottom, at the brim, a gold braid. Visor in black waxed and varnished leather, lined with black embossed morocco leather, and trimmed with a black lacquered calfskin band folded across the outer edge. Inner lining in black silk. Marked on the sweatband: ‘Maison E. BIDABL, 3 rue de Richelieu, Paris’. Third Republic period. BE. Label bearing the inscription ‘Vente Tajan 3/12/2001, Room 4, Drouot’.
