Description
KING’S BODYGUARD SABRE. 1st model.
Handle covered in stingray skin with silver filigree. Gilded brass mountings, shell-shaped guard bearing the great arms of France. Palmette-shaped quillon with double ‘B’ hallmarks, one of which is Bick and ‘Versailles’.
Curved blade with a flat back, engraved ‘Manufr Rle du Klingenthal janver 1815’, hallmarked and engraved with fleurs-de-lis, trophies of arms, the arms of France and ‘the King’s Bodyguards’. Leather scabbard with three brass fittings, two loop rings, hallmarked to match the guard.
