Note: Charles Frédéric Jung, born in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon on 12 July 1865 and died in Pommiers (Rhône) on 27 August 1936 at the age of 71, was a French painter of the Lyon School of Painting.
In Lyon, he received commissions to decorate public buildings: a decoration for the wedding hall in Oullins and others for the prefecture and the town hall of the 6th arrondissement.
His body of work is known chiefly for his decorative still lifes and floral compositions, of which this piece is a perfect example. It is representative of the floral painting of the Lyon School in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
