Signed in the same way as our copper, Jesus among the Doctors (Christie's Monaco sale 4/12/1992, no. 26, copper 65.8 x 86, signed A.W. IN.F) was the first painting to be offered a new attribution to Antoon Willemsens after having long been attributed to Arthus Wolfaert (1581-1641); Gregory Martin (in Apollo February 1993, pp. 97 to 101), in turn proposed separating Abraham from Antoon Willemsens (registered with the Antwerp Guild in 1649-50), differentiating the production of paintings, generally on copper, sometimes of large dimensions, bearing the monogram AW.
