Replica or reworking of the painting by Vincent painted around 1782 and kept in Aschaffenburg, Staatsgalerie im Schloss Johannisburg (canvas, 55.5 x 46 CM ).
According to Jean-Pierre Cuzin, the model could be the well-known model of Vincent's contemporaries, Salomon ben Israël (see J.-P. Cuzin, François-André Vincent (1746-1816) entre Fragonard et David, Paris, Arthena, 2013, no. 405, reproduced in colour on p. 125).
