(to Line / with all friendship / Piripe / 1927)
Céline Aman-Jean, sometimes known as Line Allary (1897-1959), was the daughter of the Symbolist painter Edmond Aman-Jean.
A painter and illustrator herself, she was sculpted by Charles Despiau and represents the type of modern woman Alexandre Iacovleff liked to surround himself with. He drew her with her slim face, her hair done in the garçonne style, and dedicated this portrait to her in friendship, signed with one of his many nicknames "Piripe".
A certificate of authenticity from Madame Caroline HAARDT de La BAUME, expert in the work of Alexandre Iacovleff, will be given to the buyer. This lot will be included in the Alexandre Iacovleff catalogue raisonné currently being prepared.
