Description
[Sold by description]. A female figure standing on a plinth or a fragment of a post. The arms are detached from the body. The heart-shaped face has eyes inlaid with shards of earthenware. The headdress consists of plaits.
Wood with an antique patina of wear, showing traces of white staining on the surface.
Tsogho, Gabon.

This type of figure was part of the Ebandza House of Worship, where the Bwiti cult was practised, governing the lives of the Tsogho and Vuvi peoples.
