Antique paintings at auction

What do a Byzantine icon and a romantic landscape have in common? Auctions of old paintings...

Our sales of second-hand old paintings take you from the Haute Epoque to the 1870s (before Impressionism). The sales announced here and the lots presented show the diversity of pictorial art from past centuries: medieval icons and great old masters rub shoulders with more confidential artists. Are you only interested in historical painting? You'll find works depicting historical, mythological or religious subjects... If you're interested in portraiture, you'll find that these paintings can also be bought at auction. All genres are represented at these auctions: landscape, marine, veduta and genre scenes, as well as still lifes, vanitas and memento mori. Whether on wood panel or canvas, the variety of works appraised and offered should appeal to all tastes: Renaissance masters, Italian and French schools, northern schools... paintings up to the 19th century from all currents and all countries can be sold in the auction room. Whether you are moved by the contrasts of chiaroscuro, fascinated by the colours of the 18th century or the touch of a Dutch painter, you will find something to satisfy your desires at auction. Are you interested in 17th-century French classicism, the neo-classical ideal, or the ardour of the Romantics? The great names of painting are on offer, but you may also be drawn to lesser-known artists or anonymous works, all of which are highlighted by the attentive eye of the auctioneers... Note: you can add to your collection by acquiring old drawings. Take a look at the ads in the "Drawings, watercolours and pastels" category.
