Description
A chiselled and gilded bronze clock with a rocaille foliage design surrounding a balustrade, adorned with polychrome porcelain flowers. Movement signed ‘Perache’ in Paris. Enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic numerals; hour hands in the shape of fleurs-de-lis. Louis XV period, circa 1750. (Small cracks on the dial; suspension modified). Height: 31 cm – Width: 23 cm – Depth: 14.5 cm Jean Pierre Pérache, who was admitted as a master in 1733, was initially based at the Palais Royal before moving to Rue Froidmanteau towards the end of his career. Provenance: Sale, collection of Countess Ruth Constantino, Sotheby’s New York, 2 February 2019, lot 770.
