SOUVENIR OF THE GRAND TOUR
An inkwell in the shape of a tomb, carved from yellow marble, depicting the tomb of Lucius Cornelius Scipio Barbatus. The relief decoration alternates between flowers and triglyphs and bears the inscription: "CORNELIVS LVCIVS SCIPIO BARBATUS CNAIVOD PATRE PROCNACTVS FORTIS VIR SAENSQVE QVOIVS FORMA VIRTVTEI FVIT CONSOL CENSOR AIDILIS QVCI FVIT APVD VOS TAVRASI SAMNIO CEPIT SVBICIT OMNE LQVCANA OPSIDESQVE ABDOVCI”.
