Description
Processional or altar cross in gilded, cast, engraved copper and champlevé enamel. Latin cross with fleur-de-lys at the ends of the arms. The lower central part ends in a point. The decoration consists of engraved plant motifs that cover the entire surface of the cross on both sides. The arms of the cross are decorated with oval medallions and a cartouche with the inscription IHS. Christ is depicted in relief in the centre, along with the Virgin Mary on the right and Saint John on a pedestal on the left, the Thuriferous Angel at the top and Adam emerging from the tomb at the bottom. On the reverse, the plaques decorated in enamel show Christ and attributes of the apostles. Spain, Burgos, late 14th or early 15th century. H_ 66 cm L_41 cm
