William JAMES (English painter, active between 1754 and 1771). View of the Palazzo Labia and the Canareggio Canal, Venice. Oil on canvas. H_102.5 cm W_150 cm Re-stretched and retouched in the sky. In a substantial wooden and gilded stucco frame with a water-leaf motif. Enclosed is a copy of a letter from Mr Dario Succi, stating in 1999, on the basis of an Ektachrome slide, that he considered this view of Canareggio to be a work by William James.
